Out and about in Northants

There are lots of opportunities to get out and about in Northants for our residents. Visitors may wish to take advantage of the various events and stately homes available in the county.

St Christopher’s is ideally located for the town centre, the M1 motorway and Milton Keynes and there are lots of places if you want to go out and about in Northants. The Cotswolds, London and Oxford are easily accessible and we are surrounded by countless beautiful villages.

Out and about in Northants
There are many stately homes in Northamptonshire, such as Castle Ashby, and Rockingham Castle where regular jousting displays take place. Also local is Althorp House which is the
historic seat for the Spencer family and the final resting place for the late Princess Diana.

Country houses, manor houses and parish churches reflect the county’s past and are very much a part of its present. There is much to explore and enjoy locally. Northamptonshire also hosts many worldwide events, such as the Northampton Balloon Festival and the Grand Prix and is famous for both its boot, shoe, and engineering industry.

Northampton Town Football Club, known as the Cobblers takes its name from the boot and shoe trade. The museum hosts a Doctor Marten display, showing many changes of footwear over the years.

Northampton is also home to the Saints Rugby Club and Northamptonshire Cricket Club is just a walk away from St Christopher’s.

Many famous actors and actresses grace the stage of both the Royal and Derngate Theatres.
The Charles Rennie Mackintosh house is also situated at 78 Derngate and is steeped in history.

Stoke Breurne

Stoke Bruerne and Foxton Locks are popular canal side villages; boat trips are available at Stoke Bruerne throughout the summer, both having attractive tea rooms.
